Dallas: The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association revealed the 2024 Dick Howser Trophy semifinalist list on Thursday afternoon, featuring Christian Moore, Blake Burke, and Billy Amick of Tennessee.

With three picks, the Volunteers are tied with Florida State for third place nationwide, one fewer behind Texas A&M and Wake Forest, which each have four. In program history, it also represents the second-highest number of players nominated to the semifinalist list for the trophy, trailing only the 2022 squad with four picks.

The Dick Howser Trophy, one of collegiate baseball’s most coveted honors, is awarded to the best player each season after two rounds of nationwide vote by NCBWA members.

The Dick Howser Trophy has been given out for 37 years; it was first awarded in 1987. The winner will be revealed on Thursday, June 13, during the MLB Network’s highlight show hour at 10 a.m. ET. The finalists will be revealed on Thursday, June 8.

The 68 semifinalists for this year represent 48 different institutions across 18 different leagues. With 16 players on the list, the SEC leads all leagues; the ACC is next closest with 13.
