Heartbreaking News: IMD bulletin predicts another heavy rainfall on Sunday night…
According to an IMD bulletin issued on Sunday heavy rainfall is expected to lash most portions of the State until July 25 due to a depression over the Odisha coast near Chilika Lake.
The depression system was centered about 8.30 AM on Saturday over the same area around latitude 19.6°N and longitude 85.4°E, or roughly 40 km south-southwest of Puri (Odisha) and 70 km east-northeast of Gopalpur (Odisha). The depression system remained essentially stationary until Saturday afternoon hours.
The lunchtime weather bulletin of the Meteorological Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here on Saturday indicated that it is expected to deteriorate gradually into a well-marked low-pressure system over the next 12 hours as it moves farther northwest across Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
IMD has issued a yellow alert, indicating that significant rainfall is expected in several areas of the State.
On July 20, squally weather with wind gusts of up to 65 kmph are predicted to prevail across the northwest and adjacent west central Bay of Bengal, as well as along and off the shores of North Andhra Pradesh and Odisha. After that, the weather is expected to progressively improve.
The IMD weather warning said, “Rough to very rough sea conditions are very likely to prevail over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal as well as along & off Odisha coasts during July 20 and would gradually improve thereafter.”
