On Friday morning, a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service (USPS) was shot and killed in Chicago’s West Pullman area.

The 48-year-old female letter carrier was approached by an unidentified male offender at approximately 11:38 a.m. in front of a home in the 12100 block of South Harvard, according to the police. The perpetrator brandished a gun, shot the victim several times, and then drove off on 121st Street.

The Cook County Medical Examiner identified the letter carrier as Chicago native Octavia Redmond. She was shot many times in the body and sent to Christ Hospital, where she was declared deceased.
