A four-star safety pledges to Tennessee and makes a strong declaration
On Saturday, Tennessee football acquired a third straight top-100 prospect to its class of 2025 recruits. One of the 2025 class members has committed to Tennessee. Even though football season hasn’t started yet, the Vols are still making the most of their summer Saturdays.

Four-star security In an announcement on X, Lagonza Hayward stated that he is “110% committed” to Tennessee over Georgia and Florida, two SEC rivals.
In the 2025 class, the six-foot-one, 205-pound safety is rated as a consensus four-star and among the top ten. After committing to the Vols, he didn’t wait to make a daring declaration regarding the Vols’ 2025 recruiting class.
“When all is said and done, we will have a top-five recruiting class,” Hayward stated. In addition to signing some elite targets and getting a few flips, everyone is focusing on David Sanders, Jr. This class will rank among the greatest in the country once it is finished.”
The Georgia native from Lyons is letting people know that he’s not the only talented player to declare his allegiance to the Vols.
Hayward is now one of the athletes who have pledged to Tennessee since
the beginning of June. The Vols now have the No. 11 recruiting class in the country and the No. 5 class in the SEC, according to On3 Recruiting.
The weekend fun isn’t over for the Vols with Hayward’s commitment. Tennessee hosts four-star commits George MacIntyre and Ethan Utley, and an uncommitted five-star offensive tackle, David Sanders Jr, is set to join them.
Sanders is scheduled to commit on August 17 and is anticipated to select from Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia, or Nebraska. Sanders will travel to Rocky Top and pledge to the Vols a few weeks later if Tennessee’s recruiting trajectory holds true.
