WCIV — SOUTH CAROLINA Just before midnight on Thursday, Dominion Energy said that some 30,000 of its customers had lost power as Tropical Storm Debby moved out of South Carolina.

Avoid areas where power lines have fallen. It is always safe to presume that downed electrical wires are dangerously charged. When venturing outside following a storm, exercise additional caution because fallen power wires may not always be visible. Please make sure others stay clear of the downed line by staying at least 30 feet away. If a power line is down, South Carolina customers should report it immediately by calling 888-333-4465.
Stay away from flooding. It is not advisable to drive or stroll on flooded streets as there could be hidden hazards. Power lines could be buried underground, among other risks.
Remain connected to the natural gas supply at the outside meter. Get in touch with Dominion Energy so that a technician can check the gas meter for appropriate operation if a customer’s gas meter has flooded.
