Tropical Storm Debby drenches Southeast with rain, high water as it drifts along the Atlantic coast | National News | newspressnow.com

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) – After drenching the Carolinas, the remnants of once-hurricane Debby brought off-and-on showers, downed trees, and even scattered outages to our area Friday night.

We met Kimberly Desirres while she was on her way to Boston’s Mass General Hospital to pick up her mom.

“I’m very concerned.  I knew that this might happen and knowing I’m going to have my mom and her older sister with us, that makes it even more stressful,” she said.

But Debby – who threatened flash floods and gusty winds — had other plans for the Merrimack woman, who was having car troubles while passing through western Mass.

“This car can handle it but now with a donut on it not going to do that,” Desirres claimed. “The car’s going to sway, it’s that small. So, I am concerned.”

But for others – the idea of a rainy commute wasn’t all too bad, mostly because this wouldn’t be Elliot Frank’s first run-in with Debby.

“We were driving through the rain and the rain was pretty intense.  Visibility was very poor on the highway,” Frank told us. “You couldn’t see the car in front of you.”

Elliot Frank and his family were driving from Buffalo, New York to the Cape, and while he was thankful the storm was moving out, he’s ready for whatever the rest of the storm brings us.
