In Dallas, Green has displayed flashes. His jumper got better and his minutes continued to rise. Although Green’s shooting was undoubtedly his worst weakness before joining the NBA, throughout the course of the previous two seasons, he has made 39.3 percent of his shots from long range. Off the bench, the 23-year-old can add spark with his passing, intensity, and linking style. He can still develop further.

In the Olympics, Green competed for his home country of Australia; the Boomers were eliminated in the quarterfinals. The Australians, who have been among the greatest teams in the world lately, had trouble in Paris. Green’s performance left much to be desired, and the Hornets and their supporters may be concerned.

Following the Olympics, the Hornets’ Josh Green trade appears to be worse.
Green played 22.2 minutes in Australia’s victory over Spain in their opening match in Paris. The 6’5 wing was a plus-17 and distributed four assists despite not scoring.

From then on, things worsened dramatically. Green’s playing time decreased in all three of the Australians’ losses. In their quarterfinal loss against Nikola Jokic, he played barely one second.

Serbia, and Joe Ingles was the only Australian not to appear in the game.

Perhaps Green picked up an injury in the tournament, but Australia was playing Matthew Dellavedova and Jack McVeigh over him by the end of the Olympics. Delly hasn’t played in the NBA since 2023, and McVeigh is a 28-year-old NBL player that just signed a two-way contract with the Houston Rockets.

Josh Green appeared in all four games but failed to score in Paris. He averaged 1.3 assists and 0.5 rebounds in nearly 11 minutes per contest. That is an awful stat line, and  like Australia had insane depth on the wing. There were minutes available, but
