Hurricane Ernesto might “catch a ride” into Ireland, according to experts tracking the weather in Ireland.

Currently circling the US east coast island of Bermuda in the Atlantic Ocean, tropical storm Ernesto has the potential to go into Ireland.
Next week, Ireland might be in the line of a hurricane’s tail end.
Currently, near the US east coast, in the Atlantic Ocean, tropical storm Ernesto is moving toward Bermuda. It is expected to strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane as it circles the Caribbean.
“The next hurricane this season is Ernesto, and it could travel towards the Caribbean before the remnants of it potentially catch a ride on the Jet stream early next week,” said Carlow Weather forecaster Alan O’Reilly.
O’Reilly called the storm “one to watch” as well. In agreement, Weather Alerts Ireland posted: “Tropical storm Ernesto is presently approaching Bermuda and has the potential to strengthen into a Cat 2 hurricane.”
“It’s possible that the Jet Stream will then pick it up and push it toward Ireland after this. Although it will take far too long to predict the result at this point, Ireland could get wind and rain from this system.”
On Wednesday, there will be a mix of sunny spells and sporadic showers, with highs between 16 and 21 degrees, according to Met Éireann.
Despite the fact that Thursday is predicted to be the worst day of the week due to “widespread outbreaks of rain” on an otherwise promising weekend, the rain is expected to gradually move eastward starting in the afternoon and end with “a fine and dry evening countrywide.”
There’s a good possibility of dry weather throughout the weekend, with sunny spells expected on Friday. The south and east of the nation will have the finest conditions, with highs of 20 degrees expected.
There will be more sunny spells on Saturday interspersed with cloudy weather, and any showers that do arrive will be well-scattered, which should mean that festival goers at Electric Picnic are safe from a washout at the very least.
Sunday morning, meanwhile, looks set to get off to a damp start with patchy rain and drizzle, but the forecast suggests that clouds will clear by the afternoon for sunny spells with highs of 21 degrees.
See below for the Met Eireann forecast for the next few days.
Wednesday
