Hurricane Ernesto Update: Bermuda braces for impact | WJBF

Ernesto strikes Bermuda hard on Saturday night, passing very close to, if not over, the island. It will impact Bermuda at a little slower pace due to a temporary loss of adequate steering flow. However, it will begin to kick toward the Northeast on Sunday and eventually head out to sea, losing its tropical characteristics by the following week.

Bermuda is anticipated to experience damaging hurricane force winds and floods from rain. The portions of the island that are low lying are most vulnerable to flooding.

Regarding the US Mainland, the only problem will be the ongoing high risk of rip currents on the beaches around the East Coast. We are not currently tracking any further tropical waves behind Ernesto.
