The Bottle Talk this weekend With Hurricane Ernesto approaching, thunderstorms are expected to return this weekend.
This weekend, there may be a few thunderstorms, and Hurricane Ernesto is expected to bring rip currents and choppy waves to New Jersey.
NEW JERSEY — A sharp change from this week’s pleasant weather is on tap as a storm system moves in from the west and Hurricane Ernesto off the coast to the east prompts poor conditions at the shore.
Friday will be warm and dry, but risks of showers and thunderstorms will increase heading into Saturday, according to forecasters with the National Weather Service.
It’ll also be humid, forecasters say. There may be locally heavy rain and some thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon and evening hours. The entire weekend isn’t expected to be a washout.
“The coastal areas may remain dry during much of Saturday,” the National Weather Service said, but Hurricane Ernesto will create dangerous rip currents and rough surf even though the storm is tracking east of our area.
It’s not predicted to be a washout for the entire weekend.
The National Weather Service stated that “the coastal areas may remain dry during much of Saturday,” but despite Hurricane Ernesto’s eastward course, our region will still see dangerous rip currents and rough surf.
“Small streams and urban areas where it manages to pour for a couple of hours can still experience flash flooding,” senior meteorologist Dan Pydynowski of AccuWeather stated. “But that sort of condition would tend to be highly localized.”
The National Weather Service has marginally elevated the potential of flash flooding for Sunday.
This is the most recent forecast.
