Sunday Update: Tropical Storm Ernesto was downgraded…

Ernesto’s status has been lowered to a tropical storm as of Saturday night at 11 PM. Although the hurricane is gradually leaving Bermuda, tropical storm conditions are still present there.


With a low pressure of 978 MB and maximum winds of 70 mph, Ernesto is situated approximately 140 miles northeast of Bermuda.

Ernesto is traveling 8 mph toward the northeast.

The island of Bermuda is still under a tropical storm warning.

Ernesto made landfall on the western side of the island at 4:30 AM Saturday.

Rainfall totals are expected to be between 6 to 9 inches on Bermuda. This rainfall will likely result in considerable life-threatening flash flooding on the island.

Swells generated by Ernesto will impact portions of the East Coast of the United States into Monday.

Hurricane Ernesto will likely be very near Newfoundland on Monday night before the system will head into the cooler waters of the Atlantic and fall apart.
