Emergency responders in southwest Ontario handling the aftermath of a reported tornado

According to North Dumfries Township, a tornado may have made landfall in Ayr, Ontario, on Saturday morning, during a tornado warning for a large portion of the region.
The city said on its website that, just before 10:50 a.m., the tornado may have made landfall close to Greenfield and Northhumberland roads.
Environment Canada claimed they were “tracking a severe thunderstorm that is possibly producing a tornado” and issued a tornado warning for the area at 10:42. This strong thunderstorm is 35 kilometers northeast of Plattsville.
Environment Canada stated that as part of a storm system that brought thunder and heavy rain to most of the province on Saturday, it was looking into whether a tornado made landfall in a hamlet in southwest Ontario.
According to meteorologist Trudy Kidd, radar pictures appear to indicate that a tornado started in Ayr, about 115 kilometers west of Toronto, around 10:36 a.m. More information was being gathered on the ground by a team from Western University’s Northern Tornadoes Project.
The municipality stated that “emergency crews were dispatched to the affected area as soon as there was a report of property damage.” “GrandBridge Energy resources have now been added to the crews who are still on the scene.”
Sue Foxton, the mayor of North Dumfries, the township that encompasses Ayr, stated that although the storm had passed by late afternoon, it had left a path of downed trees and electricity lines.
She informed The Canadian Press that it also destroyed sections of local buildings’ roofs and walls.
She stated, “We had the wind, but not as much rain,” adding that some places had suffered significant damage.
The municipality stated that several of its train carriages may have derailed, and that a nearby company is also monitoring them.
WRPS also received reports of a train derailment in the area, with several rail cars flipped over,” police said. “There are no reports of any hazardous materials. The incident was managed by railway employees, and emergency service assistance was not required.”
Police also reported damage to a Home Hardware in which the roof was “partially torn off.”
