4-star Legal Brief Jaedon Harmon switches his Tennessee commitment from Alabama
On Sunday, Alabama football’s 2025 recruiting class suffered a blow when Jaedon Harmon declared he was going to change his commitment. The native of Rome, Georgia now intends to attend Tennessee rather than play for the Crimson Tide.
In a social media post breaking the announcement on Sunday, Harmon wrote, “I want to thank the entire Alabama staff for believing in me and giving me the opportunity to play for a great great program.” “Honor my decision.”
Harmon, a four-star linebacker per the 247Sports composite rankings, tagged Volunteer LBs coach William Inge in the post along with Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel. Inge was formerly employed by Kalen DeBoer, the head coach of Alabama, in Washington.
Harmon is currently ranked as the nation’s 18th best linebacker by the 247 composite. He is ranked as the 155th best player in the country.
In his junior season in 2023, he recorded 80 tackles, eight of which were for loss, and five sacks. After making a commitment to Alabama in April, Harmon has since traveled to Tuscaloosa.
Following Harmon’s decommitment, Alabama will have 19 current commits in the 2025 class—DeBoer’s first complete cycle as head coach—into his first recruiting class. Only Ohio State is ahead of UA’s team in the 247 sports composite rankings.
Tennessee is placed sixth for its class. Between the Crimson Tide and the Volunteers are LSU, Georgia, and Auburn.
Even losing Harmon, Alabama still has a number of additional linebacker commitments in the 2025 class. Five-star hotels presently comprise UA’s class.
