Alabama general manager Courtney Morgan issued a letter clarifying the Crimson Tide’s roster…

After taking over the Alabama football program in January, Kalen DeBoer promptly added Courtney Morgan manager to the coaching staff, modernizing the Crimson Tide’s roster. Morgan was DeBoer’s first job at Alabama and served as his director of player personnel and general manager at Washington for the previous two seasons. DeBoer claims that he has already had a significant role in helping Alabama put together the No. 2 recruiting class in 2025.
According to DeBoer, via Green Light with Chris Long on Sunday, “Courtney Morgan has the big vision.” “He excels at fostering connections. He enjoys picking out, delving deeply into, and discovering those gems hidden among the scratches in films. He has all those abilities, you know. He simply has a strong enthusiasm for it.
Morgan, who played offensive line at Michigan from 1999 to 2003, served as director of player personnel during the 2021 season. It was there that he found future talents Kenneth Grant and Mason Graham. In addition to leading the quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and Dillon Johnson’s portal recruitment, he assisted Washington in securing a 2023 class ranked among the top 30. DeBoer gave Morgan credit for his recruiting success, noting that he had a natural rapport with young athletes and was given the responsibility of setting the tone for both official and informal trips.
“I’m not getting any younger,” DeBoer declared. All of us are growing older. He is aware of the society that many 16 to 18-year-olds find appealing. They adore spending time with him. He creates the videos and the graphics. He is aware of the sights people enjoy seeing both on official and informal excursions. He does a fantastic job managing his personnel, and because of the guidance he gives us, our entire workforce is prepared.”
Alabama’s 2025 class has the highest average rating per commit (93.92) in the country and is ranked second in the recruiting rankings. It has four five-star players, including three offensive linemen that are essential to the offense: offensive lineman Ty Haywood, quarterback Keelon Russell, and quarterback additionally
“We go above and beyond; we create relationships,” Morgan stated earlier in the offseason. “We identify someone who is already in that kid’s (circle), recruit them, and we treat every college visit—official or unofficial—as if it were their last. Therefore, we want to give it our all while they’re here. All it really takes is being genuine, interesting, and spending more time listening than speaking. People will tell you what they’re looking for if you listen to them.”
