Sad News: An Italian “tornado” causes a British-flagged yacht to capsize, leaving five person dead and three others missing.
A tornado struck close to Palermo at around five in the morning, flooding the 160-foot boat with water off the coast of Sicily.
There are seven people missing from the yacht, four of whom are believed to be British.
According to local media, there were also dual British and French nationalities, as well as people from New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and Ireland, on board.
Firefighters and coast guards on patrol boats have saved 15 lives thus far, one of whom was a one-year-old child.
Together with its mother, the child was brought to the Children’s Hospital of Palermo.
The mother only suffered minor injuries, and the infant had precautionary testing, but otherwise both of them are reported to be well.
It is claimed that skilled divers have already spotted the wreck approximately half a mile from the coast.
The boat, dubbed Bajesian, was reportedly flying the British flag, and the company included vacationing vacationers.
