First Alert Weather

With Hurricane Ernesto’s remnants making landfall in Ireland, Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning.

The forecaster notes that “unseasonably strong and gusty south to southwest winds” will affect the nation starting on Wednesday evening, following Ernesto’s destructive passage through the North Atlantic last week.

Galway and Mayo are included in the alert, which is in effect starting at 6:30 p.m. It will stay in place until Thursday morning at 2:30 a.m.

The warning might have the following effects: localized floods, coastal flooding, wave overtopping, damage to temporary buildings, and hazardous travel conditions.

It is anticipated that higher ground and coastal locations would see the worst effects.
