Nick Saban sends strong message on Auburn football during College GameDay debut

Nick Saban is no stranger when it comes to the College Football Playoffs. This was particularly true during his illustrious time as the football coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. In addition to leading the team to College Football Playoff titles in 2015, 2017, and 2020, he coached them to national titles in the BCS and AP in 2009, 2011, and 2012. With a 9-5 record in the CFP, he concluded his coaching career and proved why he is possibly the best to have ever played the position. Now that he is retired, he can watch Alabama attempt to maintain their winning ways under Kalen DeBoer, who succeeded Nick Saban, from his seat. The cast of ESPN’s College Gameday program displayed their picks for who will qualify for the CFP under the new 12-team format. Nick Saban revealed his bracket as well, and it shows Alabama playing in the first round.

Alabama, ranked seventh, will play Notre Dame, ranked tenth, according to head coach Nick Saban. In the unlikely event that they prevailed in that game, they would play the two-seeded Florida State Seminoles of the ACC in the quarterfinals. Perhaps with a first-round bye to the quarterfinals, Saban might have positioned the squad higher had he displayed a more biased side. Even though he was very loyal, he was realistic about their odds of succeeding under DeBoer. When Alabama plays Western Kentucky on August 31 at 6 p.m. CT, they will look to begin a new chapter of success without Nick Saban.
