Penn State Football: The Most Important Games on the Nittany Lions' 2024 Schedule

One week remains until Penn State’s 2024 season opener vs West Virginia. What will the depth chart for the Nittany Lions’ trip to Morgantown look like, then?

When James Franklin meets with the media on Monday, don’t expect him to present an official depth chart. He hasn’t done it in a few years and isn’t obligated to.

However, it doesn’t mean we can’t predict the lineup for the Nittany Lions against West Virginia. This is my interpretation of what Week 1’s depth chart would look like.

Who will replace Trey Potts as running back in the No. 3 spot is the actual question. Following preseason camp, Wallace is the team leader in the clubhouse. Smith, another four-star from Wisconsin, and Martin, the Belle Vernon blue-chip back, are still in the running. However, Wallace is likely to receive late-game reps, making it more probable that those two will redshirt this autumn.

Broad Receiver

Harrison Wallace III, Julian Fleming, and Liam Clifford are the starters.

Tyseer Denmark, Kaden Saunders, and Omari Evans as backups

Mehki Flowers, Tyler Johnson, Anthony Ivey, Josiah Brown, and Peter Gonzalez (injured) are the reserve players.

Wallace and Clifford were the two receivers Franklin picked out during preseason camp. That does not imply that Fleming is no longer popular.
