News Now: Lane Kiffin Reacts in Three Words to Nick Saban’s College GameDay Admission
Now that Week 1 of the 2024 college football season is largely behind us, things appeared a little different because Nick Saban was involved with College GameDay instead of coaching the Alabama Crimson Tide from the sidelines. After the 2023 season, Saban made the decision to step away from coaching. He then made a swift transition into the sports media, where he has made a name for himself with College GameDay. After leaving Alabama, fans were thrilled to see Saban working as a sports analyst, and it’s safe to say he had a good first week at his new position. Following a video of Saban making this admission on the show, Ole Miss Rebels head coach Lane Kiffin responded in a touching way.
As Alabama’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for three seasons, from 2014 to 2016, Kiffin collaborated with Saban, and it’s obvious that the two remain good friends to this day. Aside from that, Kiffin is undoubtedly relieved that he won’t be facing any Saban-led teams anytime soon. Even if some fans might still be disappointed that Saban isn’t coaching, it’s obvious he’s succeeding with College GameDay, and many people—including Kiffin—are happy for him as a consequence.
