Coaches in Alabama Name Players of the Week after Their Victory Over Western Kentucky

Over the course of the last week, eight Crimson Tide players have distinguished themselves from the rest of the team.
Certainly, Saturday night’s 63-0 triumph over Western Kentucky, the most anticipated football season opening in Alabama Crimson Tide history, lived up to the endless preseason anticipation.
After the seven-time national champion (six at Alabama) retired on January 10, Kalen DeBoer, a former AP Coach of the Year from Washington, took over as head coach of the University of Alabama. This marked the start of the DeBoer era.
The coaching staff under DeBoer is almost totally different from the Crimson Tide’s collection of coaches from the previous campaign. The squad this year had great potential in their units on Saturday and in the preceding days, and on Sunday the coaching staff selected the players of the week.
Playmaking/Technique: Quarterback Jalen Milroe
Power/Offense: Offensive Guard Tyler Booker
Scout/Offense: Offensive Lineman Roten, Graham
Special Teams: James Burnip, a punter
Defense/Aptitude: Protective Returning to Keon Sabb
Strength/Defense: Jihaad Campbell
Scout/defense: Kolby Peavy
Jay Loper is a special teams/scout.
These players distinguished themselves both in the game and in the practices that preceded the convincing victory over Western Kentucky, earning them this weekly distinction.
Five of the players on the above list either started or saw a large number of snaps.
As he completed 7 of 9 throw attempts for 200 yards (22.2 yards per completion) and three touchdowns, co-captain Milroe had a very good performance. In addition, the dual-threat gained two more touchdowns on 10 carries for 79 yards. In the third quarter, with Alabama leading by a commanding 56-0, Milroe’s night came to an end.
