Tyler Booker: TJ Finley’s Remarks Before Alabama’s Game Against Western Kentucky Felt Disrespected

Tyler Booker, the offensive lineman for the Crimson Tide, stated that after Western Kentucky quarterback TJ Finley criticized Alabama in an interview conducted before Saturday’s game, the team came together to never let up on the gas.
It’s difficult to determine whether aspect of the season opener impressed fans more, Alabama’s 63 points on a lot fewer plays than Western Kentucky or the Crimson Tide’s ability to limit the Hilltoppers to zero points while controlling the time of possession in the opening three quarters.
The famous head coach Nick Saban announced his retirement after 17 years and six National Championships, leaving Alabama with quite the offseason. Within 48 hours, Kalen DeBoer, the AP Coach of the Year, took over, and several Crimson Tide players either transferred or decommitted during and after that period of uncertainty.
Many in the college football world declared that Alabama’s nearly two-decade dynasty was over, regardless of the appointment of the new coach.
“It was a little disrespectful, we definitely saw what he said,” Booker remarked. “That wasn’t the main motivation for going out there and hanging 63 points on them, obviously, we’re going to play to our standard but that just added a little fuel to the fire.”
Booker said, “Make them believe that we’re still Alabama.” When one of their players remarks something like, ‘[They] might not be who [they] think [they] are,’ our goal as a team is to simply demonstrate to them who we were and who we claim to be. I believe we succeeded in that, and I believe he would agree.
The Monday before the Alabama game, Western Kentucky named transfer quarterback T.J. Finley its starting quarterback for the season.
