Despite an injury sustained by top offensive lineman Kadyn Proctor during warmups, Alabama football head coach Kalen DeBoer and his Crimson Tide were able to roll on Saturday against Western Kentucky. Proctor reportedly went back to the locker room as his Alabama teammates continued to warm up for the game on Saturday due to a shoulder injury he sustained just before kickoff.

According to Nick Kelly of AL.com, DeBoer has now provided an upbeat update regarding Proctor’s future going forward this season, including for this coming Saturday’s home game against South Florida.

He’s working toward that, according to DeBoer. By the end of the week, we’ll have to see. I think he would be out there if he had his choice. However, we need to exercise caution and intelligence during these early parts of the week. He’s thriving right now.

DeBoer also revealed Proctor’s commitment to his rehabilitation procedure.

DeBoer remarked, “He’s basically living in the training room.” “He is very motivated to go onto the pitch as soon as possible. I’m not sure.

Aside from the injury, Kalyn DeBoer’s first experience monitoring the sidelines in Tuscaloosa went incredibly well. Despite the offense’s imperfect execution (to be expected in a season opener against a weaker opponent), Jalen Milroe and company performed well enough to put 63 points on the scoreboard. The Alabama football defense was outstanding throughout the afternoon.

Anyway, the South Florida game on Saturday is scheduled for 7:00 PM ET from Tuscaloosa. It is a repeat of a surprisingly tight game between the two teams a year ago.
