Three Crimson Tide Items Could Have a Record-Showing NFL Season in Just a Minute

Three Crimson Tide Products Poised for Breakout NFL Season: Just A Minute

Just one day before the Baltimore Ravens take on the Kansas City Chiefs, the defending Super Bowl champions, in the NFL regular season, Patrick Surtain II, a great cornerback for the Denver Broncos and a graduate of Alabama, signed a four-year contract extension.

With Surtain’s agreement, the Crimson Tide products in the NFL reached a total of $1 billion in signings this offseason, making him the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history. You did indeed read that right. This offseason, the NFL has been kind to former Alabama standouts, as many of them signed with new teams or received large contracts from their existing clubs.

Coming into the season, a number of these players along with numerous others who were on the same squad as previous year had high hopes.

Williams Jameson
Coach Dan Campbell described wide receiver Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions as the team’s most improved player, saying, “He’s a man on a mission.” Prior to his first career Week 1 game, Williams suffered an ACL tear while playing for Alabama in the 2022–2023 NFL season. He also served a few game suspension for a gambling infraction prior to the previous season. Nevertheless, Williams’ exceptional speed and deep threat ability should really help a Lions team that is hoping to win the Super Bowl.

Xavier McKinney
Safety Xavier McKinney signed with the Green Bay Packers earlier this summer after playing for the New York Giants for his first four seasons. During his time in New York, McKinney performed better than average at the role among the rest of the league. A fresh start on a team loaded with youth talent like the 26-year-old himself could be extremely beneficial to his development.

The Will Anderson Jr.
NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year winner Will Anderson Jr., an edge rusher for the Houston Texans, had an outstanding rookie campaign. The Texans are starting to look like a danger in the AFC after making a ton of acquisitions this offseason on both sides of the ball. Danielle Hunter, an edge rusher, was one of those signings. Being able to pick up knowledge from a four-time Pro Bowler should help Anderson tremendously as he just gets better.
