‘College GameDay’: Nick Saban Delivers a Forceful Message to Alabama Rival
Nick Saban and the “College GameDay” team were preparing for the Week 2 matchup between the Texas Longhorns and Michigan Wolverines.

The former head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Nick Saban, discussed his opinions on the LSU Tigers shortly before he and the other panelists revealed their predictions for the Week 2 schedule.
After losing to the USC Trojans 27-20 in Week 1, the Tigers dropped to 0-1 on the season. Saban expressed his admiration for his erstwhile rival (and employer) despite the defeat. In addition, he told the Tigers a tale and offered guidance based on his prior encounters with the Michigan State Spartans.
LSU was the one team that impressed me, according to Saban. It brought to mind an incident from my first coaching stint at Michigan State. After we lost to Nebraska handily, I believed that we would never be able to win another game. ‘You’re not as horrible as you think,’ Tom Osborne says as he puts his arm around me as we shake hands after the game.
LSU is gonna receive the same message from Saban. He thinks that the LSU Tigers’ 0-1 start to the season shouldn’t cause for an excessive amount of concern.
The Tigers had a 10-3 record at the end of the 2023–24 collegiate football season. Although they’ve been consistently winning by double digits for years, Brian Kelly had high hopes for the program going into his third season.
Despite their difficult start and need to move up the ladder after opening the season 0–1, Nick Saban believes LSU is a good football team.
The program has seen significant changes, including the addition of Garrett Nussmeier as a new signal caller. After losing Jayden Daniels, the 2023 Heisman Trophy winner, they had a huge void to fill.
With Nussmeier and a strong core of players in the trenches on both sides of the ball, the Tigers appear to have struggled in Week 1, but only time will tell where they can go this season.
When LSU plays Nicholls State in the Bayou in Week 2, they will have an opportunity to recover.
