Watch: Nick Saban receives congratulations from former Alabama football players on College Gameday.

In a brief video montage, a number of former Alabama football players congratulated former Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban on having his name attached to the field at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
A group of former Alabama football players created little movies in honor of iconic head coach Nick Saban, which College Gameday showed on Saturday morning. The field at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be formally dubbed “Saban Field” at the half of tonight’s Crimson Tide vs. USF game.
The video was shared for public viewing on X by Nick Kelly, a beat reporter with al.com covering the Crimson Tide:
Two past running backs who had won the Heisman Trophy made cameo cameos in the film. Former Heisman champion and longtime pro Mark Ingram, as well as current Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry, who scored the opening touchdown of the 2024 NFL season on Thursday night, also spoke.
Next was 10-year veteran and former All-American linebacker Dont’a Hightower. Hightower left the NFL following the 2021 season, and he is currently the ILB coach for the New England Patriots.
Barrett Jones, a two-time first team All-American who helped the Crimson Tide win three National Championships when he was at Tuscaloosa, ended the video.
The Gameday crew was midway through their “Grab Bag” segment, in which they come up with discussion subjects at random. During the wheel’s last spin, a picture of Bryant-Denny Stadium appeared, and Rece Davis played the player’s congrats to Saban.
After working on the Gameday set in Ann Arbor, Michigan, Saban will return to Tuscaloosa for tonight’s festivities.
