Good News: Jalen Milroe, Fourth Edition To defeat South Florida 42-16, Alabama pulls away in the fourth quarter.

Alabama’s TUSCALOOSA (AP) – For fifty minutes, Jalen Milroe and Alabama engaged in an unexpected battle. When they stopped making mistakes, they started having fun.
The fourth-ranked Crimson Tide eventually pulled away to defeat South Florida 42-16 on Saturday night thanks to two touchdowns from Milroe’s runs and two touchdowns from his passes in the fourth quarter.
The Bulls (1-1) prevented the Crimson Tide (2-0) from getting any air before they erupted for 28 points in the last ten minutes. For new coach Kalen DeBoer, whose club entered as 30-point favorites and didn’t really get going offensively until late in the game, it had become an unexpected challenge.
Despite three second-half blunders and numerous penalties, they were just 14-13 going into the fourth quarter. Next, Milroe found Ryan Williams for 43 yards and Kobe Prentiss for 16 yards in touchdown passes. In the last 2:30, Justice Haynes scored a 29-yard touchdown run, and Jamarion Miller added a 56-yard touchdown run.
Miller ran for 140 yards in the end.
For the second straight season, and with Milroe starting, the Bulls harassed Alabama’s offense for much of the game. The Alabama quarterback was benched for the game last year, which ended in a tie at halftime before Alabama came out on top 17-3.
After that, Milroe guided Alabama to ten straight victories and the Southeastern Conference title.
DeBoer stated, “This isn’t a wake-up call or anything like that.” It isn’t comparable to it. Simply keep setting the bar higher. This game last year, in my opinion, was crucial in helping them advance, and it might do the same this time around. That’s my wish.
Despite being sacked four times and losing a fumble from under center at the South Florida 2 in the second half, Milroe completed 17 of 27 passes for 199 yards.
With Milroe’s first touchdown pass, the Tide led 21โ13. John Collins’ third field goal of the game, which came after two 19-yard runs by Nay’Quan Wright and a targeting penalty against
Justin Jefferson.
“We did for three and half quarters exactly what we needed to do defensively,” South Florida coach Alex Golesh said.
Milroe hit the freshman Williams, who spun away from a defender and scampered into the end zone for his third touchdown of 40-plus yards in two college games.
“Just to see the guys have tremendous grit and pull out a win like that, it just shows the toughness and the want-to,” Milroe said.
