Jalen Milroe of Alabama Is Making His Way Into the Heisman Conversation

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe has led the Crimson Tide attack to 105 points through two games with a combined total of 480 yards and nine touchdowns. Under new head coach and quarterback guru Kalen DeBoer, the redshirt junior is trying to elevate his game. He guided Alabama to an SEC Championship the previous season. Milroe might be well on his way to following in the footsteps of DeBoer’s quarterback from the previous season, Michael Penix Jr., who traveled to New York early in December for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. In their Heisman poll, On3 presently has Milroe ranked ninth after two weeks of the college football season.
Quarterbacks Quinn Ewers, Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart, Nico Iamaleavea, Carson Beck, and Miller Moss are all ranked above of Milroe, so he has quite the ladder to climb. In less than three weeks, Alabama will play two quarterbacks on this list, including Beck and Georgia. That will be the game of the year and the primetime match of the day, giving Milroe an early opportunity to have his Heisman moment and win September. When the Crimson Tide travel to Madison, Wisconsin this Saturday to take on their first power-four challenge of the DeBoer era, all eyes will be on them as well.
Big Noon on Fox Camp Randall Stadium will be ready for kickoff, with the goal of obstructing Milroe’s and the offensive line’s communication as much as possible. The team struggled against USF. Milroe inflated his stats in the first two games to stay ahead of the pack, but as the battle heats up, the emphasis will shift to developing strategies for victory. If Milroe and his team can accomplish that, there’s no reason why he won’t be the most qualified person to lift the trophy in December.
