Nick Saban and Lane Kiffin’s “not particularly close” relationship is emphasized by the media.

These days, Nick Saban is all over ESPN as the former head football coach of Alabama launches his media career. That entails making predictions, and last month when he selected Georgia and Texas to play in the league championship game during a broadcast from SEC Media Days in Dallas, Alabama supporters were understandably taken aback.
When questioned about his selection on The Pat McAfee Show on Friday, coach Saban admitted that his guess might have been motivated by something more than pure randomness, or what he dubbed “reverse rat poison.”
“I always detested it, and I will detest it even more on this show… having to guess and decide who will win a game, who will win the championship, and which conference will win what,” Saban declared. Since Georgia and Texas are Alabama’s reverse rat poison, that’s why I chose them. They are motivated by the fact that I detested being selected first or second since you never know how it would impact your team’s mental health.
