Recent News: Nick Saban identifies a dominant college football team that is producing “too many bad plays.”
Nick Saban has gained popularity among college football fans as a commentator since leaving his position as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. Having been on “College GameDay,” he has already gone viral multiple times, garnering respect from his audience. Despite his connections to the Crimson Tide, he has complimented some teams and criticized others, appearing to be entirely objective in his assessments. Now that Week 3 has arrived, it appears like Saban is focusing on one dominant program for all the wrong reasons. It seems that Saban is worried about Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks, who will play the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday, given their dismal start to the season. Oregon has faced challenges from the Idaho Vandals and the Boise State Broncos thus far, but has managed to retain an undefeated 2-0 record. Although that’s true, Saban can’t help but notice the mistakes Oregon has made early on. During a guest appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” the former Alabama head coach claimed, “They just have too many bad plays.”
“They made enough good plays in games to be a dominant team. They just have too many bad plays. I’m talking about talk for loss, penalties, get behind the sticks on offense. Now you’re playing how the other team wants you to play, and I think that’s been their issue.”
The legendary 72-year-old coach also blamed Oregon’s early-season problems on their offensive line issues. In addition, Saban acknowledges that the defense needs to get better if the Ducks are to be competitive this season. “[Oregon] hasn’t been able to play the kind of defense I think you need to play.” Fortunately, the Ducks have yet to face a nationally ranked squad. They might merely have one loss on their record if they had. especially in light of the fact that they let big plays like this one help Idaho tie the game in Week 1.
