Nick Saban, the former coach of the Miami Dolphins, offers his opinion on whether Tua Tagovailoa should retire.

The concussion that Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa sustained during Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills has been the topic of the entire NFL community. After this, everyone in the football world began to express their opinions on whether or not Tua ought to retire. Nick Saban, his former Alabama coach, has now offered his opinion on what Tua ought to do.
Tua has received calls from numerous pundits, former players and coaches, and league supporters to retire after sustaining his fourth concussion in three years. Some believe he may play on, but his main concern should be preventing any head injury. Nick Saban, his old coach, has now added his lengthy thoughts to the conversation.
On the Pat McAfee Show, Saban was questioned about his thoughts on Tua’s future and what he thought Tua ought to do moving forward. The all-time coach responded extremely calmly and believes that a medical decision will ultimately decide this.

Although Tua is a terrific competitor, I believe that this needs to be a medical decision. Medical professionals who are aware of the situation, the injuries, and the concussions must be informed. It is not advisable to sustain more than one concussion.
Saban feels that Tua will have to consult with medical professionals and his family of course to decide whether to return or retire, but he certainly feels that that’s a conversation that needs to be had based on the medical professionals:
“I believe Tua, his family, and everyone else should pay attention to the medical evidence to ensure that playing football will not jeopardize your long-term health,” Saban stated.
However, I believe that’s a medical choice. That’s not something I think I should speculate about. That shouldn’t have an impact on the family. That shouldn’t have any bearing on Tua. Doctors should have the last say on all of that.
The renowned coach continued by praising Tua’s fierce competitiveness and his willingness to go above and beyond to succeed. He discussed Tua’s hip injuries sustained during his time in college and his recovery strategy:
