Week 3: Nick Saban Issues an Upset Alert for the Top 10 College Football Program in 2024

The NCAA football season is in its second week, which suggests there may be more upsets. No. 3 Oregon nearly lost to Idaho last week, and No. 10 Florida State was defeated by Boston College. After a close victory of 24–14, the Ducks will now take on the Boise State Broncos, who put up 56 points in Week 1 and are seen by some as a strong candidate to play for the Group of Five in the College Football Playoff. Because of the Ducks’ unsatisfactory first-week performance, Nick Saban decided to pick Boise State as his “superdog” on “College GameDay” on Saturday, putting the team on notice for an upset.
“Boise, 19 point dogs at Oregon,” Saban said. “Oregon has a lot of weapons, but Boise scored 56 points last week. Oregon’s going to have to stop the run.”
To avoid an upset, Oregon will need to restrict standout running back Ashton Jeanty. In the first week of college football, Jeanty had an incredible showing, rushing for 267 yards and six touchdowns. The Broncos’ defense, however, struggled against Georgia Southern, giving up 45 points. The Ducks must complete drives more skillfully than they did in Week 1 if they hope to exploit Boise State’s defense. They only scored 24 points, despite amassing over 500 yards of total offense and quarterback Dillon Gabriel completing 41 of 49 throws for 380 yards.
