Alabama Quarterback Jalen Milroe Named SEC Offensive Player of the Week

With three passing and two running touchdowns, Alabama football quarterback Jalen Milroe had a fantastic game on Saturday, leading the Crimson Tide to a 42-10 victory over Wisconsin. On Monday, he was recognized for his efforts, and was named the SEC’s offensive player of the week, the league announced.

On Saturday, Milroe completed 12 of his 17 passes for 196 yards. This season’s honor marks Milroe’s first of four such awards in his career.

“I feel incredibly fortunate every time I step foot on the football field,” Milroe remarked following Saturday’s victory. Extremely fervent in their love of football. Thus, the key is to have fun whenever we get the chance to make it explosive. Reverting to my initial motivation for playing the game: enjoyment.”
Jaxson Dart, the quarterback for Ole Miss, and Milroe shared the honor. On the road on Saturday, the Rebels defeated Wake Forest.

It was Alabama’s first away game of the season and of head coach Kalen DeBoer’s tenure against Wisconsin. Additionally, it was the Tide’s first encounter with a Power 4 opponent.

Nick Sheridan, the offensive coordinator for Alabama, complimented Milroe’s performance through three games at his press conference on Monday.

“Those have definitely been quality plays by Jaleen, finding the receiver in the end zone and throwing the ball accurately in those moments,” Sheridan remarked. “What I like most about Jalen is his constant pursuit of improvement.”

After a bye, on September 28, Milroe and Alabama will play their most difficult game to date. Georgia, in first place.
