NEW ORLEANS: With four teams still unbeaten, the Sun Belt leads all non-autonomy conferences. They will face tough opposition in a 10-game Week 4 schedule to test their record against them.

The 2024 conference season will begin with a stand-alone game between South Alabama and App State on Thursday night on ESPN. This will be followed by a nine-game Saturday schedule that includes six autonomy five matchups, including four away games against ranked teams.

PARTICIPATION STARTED – The first game of the 2024 Sun Belt Conference schedule, which takes place Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN, features two of the top 30 offenses in the country. The Mountaineers are back home after rallying for a 21-19 victory over in-state foe East Carolina, while the Jaguars are coming off a Sun Belt single-game record 87-point outburst in an 87-10 triumph against Northwestern State. South Alabama is 12th in the nation with an average total offense of 514.7 yards per game. With 456.0 yards of total offense per game on average, App State is ranked 30th in the country. Joey Aguilar, a senior quarterback for the Mountaineers, averages 321.33 passing yards and 336.0 total offense yards, ranking sixth in the US.

ON OUR TURF: Coastal Carolina will host Virginia at the Surf Turf at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, on ESPN+, marking the second week in a row that a Sun Belt program would host an elite five institution on its home field. A week ago, Georgia State defeated Vanderbilt 36–32 at home to earn the Sun Belt’s first win against an elite five opponent this year. following 2016, the Sun Belt has defeated an autonomy five opponent 20 times. Nine of those victories have come following the league’s 2022 expansion to its current 14-member membership. The Chanticleers and Cavaliers will play their first-ever encounter this weekend, and it will also be Coastal Carolina’s first-ever home game versus an ACC team.
