Where Kane Wommack believes Alabama’s defense needs to excel before Georgia’s Clash

Even though Alabama’s defense has only allowed two touchdowns in its first three games this year, defensive coordinator Kane Wommack is still not happy with his team as a whole.
Wommack has talked about his lack of satisfaction with Alabama’s defense after every game this season with the lack of turnovers they were able to produce in their first two games and their inability to consistently stop the run through three games. He highlighted the Crimson Tide’s run defense on Monday.

After every game this season, Wommack has expressed his dissatisfaction with Alabama’s defense due to the team’s inability to generate turnovers in their first two games and their inability to consistently stop the run through three games. On Monday, he emphasized the Crimson Tide’s run defense.
With three games played, Alabama has allowed 397 yards on the ground, so Wommack wants to dominate in that area as the Tide head into their bye week before conference play.
This bye week is really critical to get some things, honed because we need to continue to move in a direction to where we can be a dominant run stopping defense,” Wommack said. “I do not think we are there yet as a team.”
Alabama’s next game isn’t until after their bye week when they kick off conference play with a pivotal matchup against one of their top SEC nemeses in the No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs on Sept. 28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
