LeBron James, Lakers Beat Pelicans as NBA Fans Hype Dalton Knecht's Breakout Game | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors | Bleacher Report

LeBron James expressed his admiration for his rookie teammate Dalton Knecht following the Lakers’ most recent victory. Tonight, the Tennessee-born NBA rookie scored a career-high 27 points, and the King made sure to give him credit for it.

“He’s long been an expert. I discussed it last year, so I’m not surprised. James stated via Lakers Nation, “He can get it off against anybody with his shooting and finishes.” It doesn’t take him long to get them up because he’s 6’8-6’9 and has a quick trigger. He is also a cunning athlete, which explains his ability to finish after dropping the ball on the ground after making those threes.

The Bronny James storyline for the Lakers dominated the 2024 Draft, and he continues to make headlines as he plays out his time in the G-League. But Dalton Knecht, who has emerged as a key component of JJ Redick’s rotation, is the Lakers’ real 2024 Draft success story.

Knecht is averaging 7.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game on 46.1% shooting so far this season. This season, he has already started two Lakers games, including tonight’s matchup with the Pelicans, where he recorded a career-high 27 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals on 58.8% shooting.

Dalton Knecht’s shooting, floor spacing, and playmaking have made him an ideal match for the Lakers, and he’s performing like a player with ten years of NBA experience. The Lakers are hoping to become great again in the LeBron James era, and his arrival couldn’t have come at a better moment.

The Lakers are in a better position than they have been in years thanks to two healthy stars, a new coach, and a talented rookie who shows promise and can spread the floor, but the work is far from done. The Lakers must figure out how to keep up this pace and sustain the momentum throughout the season, as the most of it is still to come.
