IT’S DONE: Purdue Alumni Team ‘Men of Mackey’ Officially Make a Major Announcement 2025 TBT Return from CEO’s Office

West Lafayette, Ind. — May 26, 2025

IT’S DONE. That was the message boldly declared on social media and echoed in person as the Purdue alumni basketball team, Men of Mackey, officially confirmed their participation in the 2025 edition of The Basketball Tournament (TBT). And in true business-like fashion, the announcement came straight from the top — inside the office of team CEO and co-founder, Kelsey Barlow.

In a setting that combined Boilermaker pride with corporate precision, Barlow, joined by team leadership and former Purdue standouts, told fans and media that the Men of Mackey are “locked in” for another deep run in the $1 million, winner-take-all tournament set to begin this summer.

“IT’S DONE. We’re in,” Barlow said with confidence from his executive desk, surrounded by framed Purdue memorabilia, past TBT jerseys, and signed basketballs. “We’re committed, focused, and ready to represent Purdue Nation with everything we’ve got. This year, we’re not just participating — we’re coming to win it all.”

The announcement, livestreamed to thousands of viewers, marked the fifth straight year Men of Mackey will compete in TBT. Since their debut, the team has steadily gained respect for its physical, defensive-minded play and loyal fanbase. Now, with returning talent and new reinforcements expected, the squad believes it’s time to take the next step.

Barlow, who played for Purdue from 2009–2012, has emerged as both the face and architect of the team. He’s partnered with fellow alumni including GM Jon Octeus and assistant coach Rapheal Davis to construct a roster and culture that reflect the grit of Purdue basketball.

While the official roster announcement is set for mid-June, sources close to the team say Purdue legends like Dakota Mathias, Vince Edwards, and Isaac Haas are likely to return. The coaching staff is also looking to integrate recent Boilermaker graduates and overseas professionals with strong Purdue ties.

“The core is back. The mindset is stronger,” Octeus added. “We’ve learned what it takes to compete at the highest level of TBT. This time, we’re building to finish the job.”

Last year, Men of Mackey exited in the second round after a tightly contested Elam Ending loss. This year, they’re preparing with more structure, more data, and more urgency. The team is planning a closed training camp followed by open practices in Indianapolis, aiming to reconnect with the fanbase and finalize team chemistry ahead of July tipoff.

TBT, known for its fast-paced format and sudden-death Elam Ending, will once again feature 64 teams and a million-dollar prize for the champion. Host cities and brackets are expected to be announced soon, and the Men of Mackey are pushing to bring a regional to Indiana — potentially West Lafayette or Indianapolis.

But regardless of where they play, one thing is clear: the decision is made, the mission is clear, and the belief is strong.

IT’S DONE. Men of Mackey are in. Now, it’s about making history.
