Highly active hurricane season likely to continue in the Atlantic | National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

The NOAA’s most recent forecast indicates that the season will be extremely active. Atmospheric and marine factors have created the circumstances for an exceptionally active hurricane season that may rank among the busiest on record, according to NOAA. Through the peak of the hurricane season, ideal circumstances for storm development will be created by the Atlantic’s near-record warmth and the forming La Nina.

While Debby continues to exit, we are watching for additional development in the Atlantic over the next week. The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical wave with a 30% chance of development over the next seven days. This system is expected to trek near the northern Caribbean Islands through early next week.
