Storm Lilian will lash the UK, threatening blackouts and “dangerous conditions.”
Storm Lilian is threatening the UK, and families are being warned of power outages and “potentially damaging gusts.” Tomorrow, there is a chance of 50 mph winds in certain areas of Staffordshire, along with significant precipitation.
According to StokeonTrentLive, the Met Office has issued a yellow wind warning for South Cheshire, which extends up to Carlisle, for Friday morning. Forecasters have now issued a warning, stating that the most recent storm to slam the nation this year may bring winds as high as 75 mph in certain areas.
Storm Lilian is expected to move north east early on Friday morning and will cause problems across northern parts of England along with Wales and southern Scotland. The heavy rain and powerful winds could lead to ‘potential travel disruption, the possibility of power cuts and dangerous conditions near coasts.’
North Staffordshire has not yet been hit with a weather warning – but Stoke-on-Trent is likely to see winds of 48mph by 6am on Friday with hilly Moorlands areas potentially experiencing gusts of 51mph. Heavy rain is expected to move in at around 11pm tonight and continue through to roughly 6am for many.
