Paul Finebaum warns Kirby Smart of Georgia about the impending matchup with Alabama

On Saturday, Alabama and Georgia will square off in a much awaited, high-profile Southeastern Conference (SEC) game. This is the first meeting between Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs, but the opponent is new Alabama football coach Kalen DeBoer, and Paul Finebaum believes that Smart stands to lose the most.
Georgia has been the dominant team in college football for the majority of the last three years; the Bulldogs are 49-2 since their last regular-season defeat in November 2020, according to Finebaum. However, the club’s difficulties with Alabama could cost them this season.
“On ESPN’s “Get Up,” today, Finebaum stated, “Kirby Smart did everything right at Georgia the previous couple of years, but he couldn’t get by Alabama” [via On3’s Nick Kosko]. Recall that he was defeated in that championship match a few years prior. Although he made up for it, Kirby Smart’s defeat to Tua on the walk-off in 2017 was likely the most agonizing of his career. Mike Greenberg was aiming for a three-peat. Since 2020, this team has won every regular season game, and both of its postseason losses have come against Nick Saban.
