Texas Tech Football Lands Additional Commit to Finalize 2025 Roster

Texas Tech Football: Red Raiders Land 2024 Commitment | 2024 Recruiting Outlook (Big 12)

Texas Tech football has officially wrapped up its 2025 recruiting class with one final, strategic addition that could make a significant impact in the coming season. Head coach Joey McGuire and his staff have secured a late commitment from 3-star wide receiver Jordan Wells, out of DeSoto High School in Texas — a move that not only adds more firepower to the offense but also marks the completion of a strong, balanced 2025 roster.

Wells, a 6-foot-1, 185-pound playmaker, brings speed, agility, and a high football IQ to Lubbock. Known for his sharp route running and ability to stretch the field, Wells was a standout in Texas 6A football and earned late attention from several Power Five programs before ultimately choosing the Red Raiders. His commitment came just days before the summer workouts begin, giving the coaching staff another dynamic option to evaluate heading into fall camp.

“I’ve always believed in the vision at Texas Tech,” Wells said in his commitment announcement. “Coach McGuire and the staff made me feel like family, and I know this is the right place for me to grow on and off the field. I’m ready to help bring wins to Raiderland.”

With Wells joining the class, the Red Raiders have now finalized their 2025 roster, which includes a healthy mix of experienced returners, early enrollees, and high-upside recruits. This year’s class features talent across all position groups, including several standout offensive linemen, a dual-threat quarterback, multiple defensive backs, and now, a polished receiver in Wells who could contribute immediately in special teams or the slot.

Recruiting coordinator Kenny Perry spoke about the final addition, saying, “Jordan gives us another weapon — someone who understands the game, has competed at the highest level in Texas, and fits our culture of toughness and accountability. He’s the kind of guy who comes in and earns respect from day one.”

The 2025 class is being hailed as one of the most complete in recent program history. With a recruiting focus on both immediate contributors and long-term development, McGuire and his staff have quietly built a foundation that could position Texas Tech as a legitimate contender in the new-look Big 12.

Analysts have praised the Red Raiders’ approach to this cycle, especially their emphasis on in-state recruiting and player development. Texas Tech has also benefitted from a strong presence in the transfer portal, adding depth at key positions including linebacker and defensive tackle — ensuring that the roster is both competitive and injury-resilient.

As the offseason transitions into preparation mode, the message from Lubbock is clear: the 2025 roster is set, and expectations are high. With a unified locker room, energized coaching staff, and now a final key addition in Jordan Wells, Texas Tech is locked in and ready for the season ahead.
