“A Little Slow Around Here” — Netflix Announces New Sports Documentary Chronicling the Heart and Hustle of Lady Vols Basketball Community

KNOXVILLE, Tenn., June 4, 2025 – Netflix is set to shine a spotlight on the enduring spirit, passion, and legacy of one of the most storied programs in women’s college basketball with the upcoming release of A Little Slow Around Here, a new original sports documentary centered on the Lady Vols and their devoted fanbase.

Set against the backdrop of Thompson-Boling Arena and the broader East Tennessee community, A Little Slow Around Here is more than just a basketball story—it’s a portrait of resilience, identity, and tradition. At a time when online conversations often stray from the heart of what makes Lady Vols basketball special, the documentary recenters the narrative, honoring the people, players, and memories that have built the program’s unique culture.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Jordan Elise Wright (Courtside Voices, Legacy Lines), the documentary offers a layered look at how the Lady Vols became a cornerstone of both collegiate athletics and local pride. Through in-depth interviews with former players, coaches, superfans, and media personalities, the film captures the program’s highs and lows—celebrating not only legendary figures like Pat Summitt, but also the unsung heroes who keep the spirit alive even when the national spotlight dims.

“The title came from something we heard often while filming,” said Wright. “People joked that it’s ‘a little slow around here’ unless the Lady Vols are in action. That phrase took on a deeper meaning as we explored the emotional rhythm of a community that lives and breathes orange and white.”

A Little Slow Around Here * includes never-before-seen archival footage, fan-submitted videos, and behind-the-scenes access to the current team’s locker room and training sessions. The documentary also delves into the challenges of being a powerhouse program navigating a shifting college basketball landscape, while maintaining the standard of excellence set decades ago.

Netflix executives say the project is part of a broader commitment to elevating women’s sports and untold regional stories. “The Lady Vols aren’t just a basketball team—they’re a movement, a heritage,” said Netflix VP of Sports Content, Rachel Lin. “This documentary will remind people why that orange means so much to so many.”

Lady Vol Nation can expect a trailer release this July, with the full documentary scheduled to premiere globally on Netflix in November 2025, just ahead of the new NCAA season.

As discussion threads fill up with off-topic posts and scattered updates, A Little Slow Around Here brings the focus back to where it belongs—on the court, in the stands, and in the hearts of fans who never stopped believing.
