**LUBBOCK,  — June 7, 2025** — Sports history was made today as Purdue University was officially crowned the top overall athletic program in the nation for 2025, marking an unprecedented milestone in collegiate sports. The Boilermakers didn’t just have a strong season—they dominated across multiple sports in a way no school ever has.

The crown jewel? The Purdue men’s basketball team brought home the **2025 NCAA National Championship**, the school’s first in over five decades. Coached by Matt Painter, the Boilermakers stormed through the tournament with grit, elite defense, and a dynamic offense. Their run was highlighted by a Final Four victory over defending champs UConn and a thrilling national title win over Duke in a game for the ages.

But it didn’t stop there. Purdue also reached the **Final Four of the NIT Regional tournament** with their second squad, showcasing the program’s extraordinary depth. On the women’s side, Purdue’s basketball team made it to the Elite Eight, and their volleyball team surged to the Final Four in a stunning postseason campaign.

Football wasn’t left behind, either. The Boilermakers earned a berth in the **Fiesta Bowl**, becoming one of the few Big Ten teams to win a major bowl game this season. Behind a high-octane offense and a revitalized defense under head coach Ryan Walters, Purdue took down Texas A\&M in a 45-38 shootout, cementing its place as a rising football power.

These achievements make Purdue the **only school in 2025** to notch wins or major placements in all three of college sports’ biggest events: the NCAA Basketball Tournament, a New Year’s Six Bowl Game, and a deep postseason volleyball run. This level of excellence across programs is virtually unheard of and has earned Purdue national recognition as the **Number One All-Sport Athletic Program** of the year.

“This is more than a banner year—it’s a statement to the entire NCAA,” said Athletic Director Mike Bobinski. “Purdue is no longer the underdog. We are a force across every sport, and this is just the beginning.”

The Boilermaker faithful erupted in celebration across campus and beyond, with a special rally planned in West Lafayette and a commemorative banner set to be raised at Mackey Arena this fall.

From the hardwood to the gridiron, Purdue’s 2025 campaign will go down as one of the greatest athletic years in school—and NCAA—history. **Go Pur

due! Boiler Up!**
