Pittsburgh Before the 2024 season begins, the Pittsburgh Steelers will need to bolster their defensive backs room, and they will do everything in their power to secure a future partner for their standout youngster Joey Porter Jr.
The Steelers have found former Louisville Cardinal Cam’ron Kelly as they continue to research defensive backs ahead of the NFL Draft. Kelly has interest from the Eagles, Falcons, Cowboys, and Steelers, according to NFL Insider Tanner Philfer. Kelly also spoke with the 49ers over the phone.
Throughout his tenure as a Tar Heel, Kelly totaled 179 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 5 interceptions, 7 passes defended, and 1 forced fumble. With the Cardinals, he finished his college career with 70 tackles, five stops for a loss, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
The Steelers acquired Donte Jackson through trade, but they lack depth at cornerback because James Pierre, Patrick Peterson, and Levi Wallace are not signed for the upcoming campaign. There are other cornerbacks who currently have full-time roster places besides Porter and Darius Rush. To keep it filled for 2024, they’ll need to take at least one, if not more, players at that position.
