We will be able to spend more than USD 3 billion on defense in 2024 thanks to an agreement with the UK. – Ukrainian Prime Minister

Cooperation in all domains—on land, in the air, at sea, in politics, and online—is outlined in the Agreement on Security Cooperation between the  UK  and Ukraine. Ukraine will be better able to fend against Russian aggression going forward.

Denys Shmyhal, Ukraine’s prime minister, made this claim live on the Yedyni Novyny (United News) telethon.

He pointed out that the Agreement included particular, bilateral, partnership-based security guarantees.

“Any sign of aggression must be met with a 24-hour response from the allies once this war ends. The UK will now back Ukraine for however long it takes. Denys Shmyhal stated, “Without the tremendous work of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, our diplomatic team, and the Yermak-Rasmussen group, which developed the Kyiv Security Compact, this historic moment would not have occurred.”

The Agreement’s financial component was also emphasized by the Head of Government.

Through 2024, GBP 2.5 billion, or roughly USD 3.2 billion, is expected to be used to finance Ukraine. These monies are intended to assist the Ukrainian military industry. Modern drones will be purchased and supplied to Ukraine with GBP 200 million. In addition, arms and technology assistance will be provided for the collaborative manufacturing of armaments in the UK and Ukraine. Denys Shmyhal stated, “It is anticipated that the financial support would continue for the full ten years of this Agreement.

He emphasized that in order to establish comparable agreements with other allies, Ukraine was in negotiations with partners.

Although it is the first, it won’t be the last agreement. We anticipate that the G7 nations and other nations that signed the Joint Declaration of Support for Ukraine will do the same. The Ukrainian prime minister stated, “We have friends who have already declared their desire to establish such security arrangements with Ukraine in the near future.
